One of the great things about CNM is its incredible reputation. When I reached out to food businesses to secure an internship, everyone had heard about CNM and the Natural Chef course – it’s very well-regarded. Knowing I’ll be able to secure work when I graduate is very reassuring.

I wanted a proactive career in preventative health

I’ve always had a real passion for health and food. A couple of years ago, I decided to change careers as I wanted to do a job where I could help people with their health. I couldn’t decide on whether to study medicine or nutrition. After much research, I ended up going back to uni to study to be a paramedic. I soon realised it wasn’t a career for me as it’s a very physical job; however, what I did take away from the experience was that I wanted to go into preventative health. Having seen lots of people suffering with conditions such as diabetes and obesity, I realised I needed a career where I could be proactive, rather than reactive. With the right diet and lifestyle, many health issues can be prevented.

A perfectly balanced course that offers flexibility

I started looking at other courses, but I couldn’t find the right one for me. They were either solely focussed on nutrition or cooking; I wanted a mixture of both. I was randomly searching on Google and I stumbled across the Natural Chef course offered by CNM. It sounded perfect for me and included everything I was looking for in a course – the nutrition basics, practical cooking and a flexible study programme I could fit around my family. It had very good reviews and the syllabus looked fantastic.

Shortly before I enrolled, I mentioned to a chef I’d met on holiday that I was thinking about studying the CNM Natural Chef course. She told me the course is brilliant and that it’s highly regarded in the chef community. Hearing this affirmed I was making the right choice.

The lecturers draw from their own industry experience

My friend Ann Knight was busy doing her Natural Chef course when I was diagnosed. It made me realise how beneficial a course like this would be for me and my family. I loved the classes, my classmates and the course. The lecturers were great and taught me so much more than I would have learnt anywhere else. Their knowledge comes from practical and personal experience, which is the best way to impart knowledge.

I learnt how to use food as medicine

I genuinely feel that CNM and the Natural Chef Course have helped me grow as a health practitioner in my role as a chef. I learnt how to use food as medicine. I’m currently busy studying the Health Coach course and I hope to work with people who, like me, need to use food and exercise to heal their bodies and minds. Working with a qualified nutritionist, I strongly feel I can make a big difference to people’s lives.
